For more information, please visit www.capitalbmedia.co.uk Women and their families are invited to a free day out in Rotherham to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The Great Girlie Gala will take place on 12 March 2016 in Clifton Park’s garden rooms and courtyard with stalls, workshops, demonstrations and staged events as well as children’s entertainers and face painting for the kids.

The event has been organised by Girlie Gatherings, a newly established network aimed at helping women to build confidence and self-esteem. Girlie Gatherings was awarded £9,000 from the National Lottery to organise the event.

Founder of Girlie Gatherings, Julie Hampshire, said: “The Great Girlie Gala will bring together women and their families to provide learning and fun through a whole host of activities, information and demonstrations to develop the mind, body and spirit. It will also incorporate a business angle, with practical workshops and information on business opportunities.

“The stands, workshops and stage events have all been organised and delivered by women for women but we particularly wanted the whole family to be able to join in. It will be a great day out for everyone, with the added benefit of allowing women to try out new ideas and concepts to broaden and enhance their outlook and take the first steps to starting something new that is positive, inspiring and motivational.”

Stalls will include traditional and holistic health and wellbeing therapies, beauty, fashion, crafts and accessories. There will be a book signing and reading by the local chick-lit author Sasha Lane.

The North’n Belles burlesque troop will be first on stage to open the event, followed by motivational speakers including ‘The Happiness Speaker’ Frederika Roberts and a laughter yoga instructor. There will also be a fit camp, yoga session and burlesque dancing workshop.

On the day visitors will be able to experience the Emotional Freedom Technique to overcome phobias with the spiritual Jayne Briggs and learn about Louise Hay’s ‘Heal Your Life’ programme from Susan Smith.

Mums in Need, a charity supporting mums suffering from emotional abuse, will also be at the Gala.

Workshops will take place to help people develop their business idea and learn how to get their accounts in order. There will also be information on business opportunities with stallholders.

The Gala will take place from 10am to 4pm, followed at 6pm by a sponsored firewalk. Entry to the firewalk is open to anyone and visitors can sign up on the day for just £35. Sponsorship for the Firewalk and all money raised will be used by Girlie Gatherings to deliver workshops, events, programmes and other interventions to women in need of building confidence and self-esteem.

Julie, from Brampton-Bierlow, said: “The firewalk will be a spectacular finale to the Gala and will perfectly sum up the ethos of Girlie Gatherings. Firewalking is about facing your fears and taking those magical steps to complete empowerment. It is an opportunity to achieve something you never ever thought you would and raise money for a great cause at same time!”
