Barnsley businesses are invited to a free event hosted by the Shadow Minister for Culture, Dan Jarvis, to learn about the benefits digital technology can bring.
The “Connected Business” event will be held at the Civic, Barnsley, on Friday June 15th between 8.30am – 1.30pm. Organised by Enterprising Barnsley, it will be hosted by Dan Jarvis MP, who is Barnsley Central MP, and will feature a programme of expert speakers and workshops covering subjects from Social Media and Facebook to cloud-computing and e-procurement.
Speakers confirmed for the event include Director of Policy at Facebook, Simon Milner; social media expert Linda Cheung; procurement expert Rachel Fletcher, plus keynote speakers Herb Kim, founder of the Thinking Digital Conference, and Gerd Leonhard, renowned Media Futurist.
Tracey Johnson, Creative and Digital Industries Sector Specialist at Enterprising Barnsley, said: “Speakers and workshop leaders have been selected for their expertise in translating the digital world into tangible business benefits. We would like Barnsley businesses to come and use the morning to explore how to increase their efficiency and turnover using the digital resources out there.
“Business owners, managers, marketing and technical staff would all benefit from the international expertise available. Our aim is to help novices start taking advantage of online opportunities and support more experienced people to streamline their company’s digital operations.”
Digital experts will also be available for one-to-one business surgeries afterwards alongside a showcase of local digital businesses and services.
