Recruitment agency founder shortlisted for business person of the year award
2 October 2014
The founder of a Barnsley-based recruitment agency has been shortlisted for a prestigious business award. Katie Buckle, managing director of Provide Education, has been nominated for the ‘Business Person of the Year Award 2014’ by Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce.
Katie was shortlisted in recognition of her achievement in setting up the specialist education recruitment agency from scratch in 2007 with co-director Barry Simmons.
Provide Education now works with over 2,200 job candidates and 500 schools across South and West Yorkshire and the East Midlands. In the last three years, under Katie’s leadership, the company has doubled its turnover and its workforce. It now employs 16 people.
Barry Simmons, co-director at Provide Education, said: “Katie started the company in her own spare bedroom and head-hunted me to join her within months. Her entrepreneurial vision and sheer hard work have been key to driving the business forward and expanding its operations year-on-year.
“At Provide Education we aim to be the best recruitment agency serving the education sector in our region and we know that Katie’s passion for the company has led directly to its growing reputation and success.”
Katie secured the award nomination for her input into many areas of the business including strategic planning, staff development, target-setting, marketing, customer relations, payroll and pensions.
Katie set up Provide with 16 years’ experience working for large recruitment agencies in the north and north west behind her.
Katie said: “It was tremendous surprise to be shortlisted for this award as I try to avoid the limelight as much as possible. Barry and I are very much a partnership and work closely together to take the company forward every day – plus everything relies on excellent teamwork at Provide Education and I’d like the whole team to share in this recognition of what we have achieved so far.
“We believe we have grown as a business because we are determined to deliver the highest quality service possible to our clients and customers.
“We aim to provide an effective two-way service helping schools to fill positions quickly and safely and supporting teachers and other education sector staff to find jobs that suit them perfectly.”
Winners of the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber Awards will be announced at a gala dinner on Friday October 17.
