A team of volunteers from a Barnsley IT company will be run off their feet this weekend, when they support their chosen good cause, The Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.

Staff members from Goldthorpe-based company IT Desk UK will take part in the Weston Park Hospital ‘Run in the Park’, a 10k fun run which takes place in Graves Park, Sheffield, on Sunday 12th July.

IT Desk managing director Chris Wright, said: “I’m really proud of my staff for signing up for the race.

“This is a charity which is very close to our hearts, and we try to support it in every way we can. Two of our team members did a charity sky dive for Weston Park in June and raised over £500.”

The charity, whose patrons include athletics champion, Jessica Ennis-Hill, cricketer Darren Gough and actor Sean Bean, raises around £50,000 each year through its fun run event.

Cassie Melluish from Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity said: “We are incredibly grateful to the team from IT desk who are joining hundreds of others to take part in the Fun Run to help raise vital funds in support of Weston Park Hospital.

“We are continually overwhelmed by the lengths, and heights, our fundraisers go to, to help us raise money, which will ultimately support us reach our £1.8 million target during 2015.”

IT Desk, based in Goldthorpe, offers a range of IT support packages and specialises in proactive IT support. Over half its work is in the precision engineering sector, including contracts with Oracle Precision and JRI Orthopaedics, but it also has clients in healthcare, insurance and recruitment.
