Young Llanharan artist wins national website's festive competition

13 December 2013

A ten-year-old artist has turned web designer and won a bumper package of arts and craft materials for her school.

Sophie Bowden, of Llanharan Primary School, won an online competition to design a festive website banner for a creative education company’s national website.

Cornerstones Education Ltd are champions of creative learning in the classroom and more than 400 primary schools in Wales currently use the Cornerstones creative curriculum to design and deliver exciting and effective lessons.

Sophie’s artwork now graces the top of Cornerstones’ busy website.

Cornerstones managing director Melanie Moore said: “It was very hard to choose one picture from the many fabulous entries sent to us by children from across England and Wales, but Sophie is a very worthy winner and we’re sure her wonderful image is cheering up all our customers during this festive season.”

Sophie has won a bumper package of collage materials for her Llanharan school and a certificate of achievement and colouring pencils for herself.

Cornerstones produce comprehensive creative curriculum packages and other materials designed to help teachers plan and prepare engaging lessons which meet every requirement of the national curriculum.
