Kate Betts has run seminars for various business support organisations over the years. This includes well over 100 events for the Government-funded advice service Business Link. She has also run events for UK Trade and Investment, KC Business, Hull University's Graduate Entrepreneurship Programme, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and Forward Ladies.

The seminars helped businesses promote themselves for free, which is particularly useful in the current economic climate. Hundreds of business owners and directors attended, often with positive results happening quickly:

Just a quick note to say a big THANK YOU! I attended your business seminar ‘How to Get Free Publicity in the Media’ in Bradford. I sent out a press release the following week to the Yorkshire Evening Post and they are going to feature it within their ‘Beat the Credit Crunch’ section this Friday. Your advice really works, I would thoroughly recommend people go to your seminars.

After I had attended one of Kate's workshops I was extremely motivated to go away and start writing press releases promoting the work of the Hospice's retail team. Every release that I have issued since attending the course has been published - many have also resulted in photo calls. Kate's sessions are very practical and offer lots of useful hints and tips.

I recently attended your “How to use the media for free” seminar, in Sheffield, sponsored by Business Link. You filled me with enough confidence to send the attached press release to the “Estate Agent” the magazine for all members of the National Association of Estate Agents. It is difficult to get anything into this magazine as they try and avoid unintentional advertising. The advice and tips you gave were invaluable and got me a page and half to publicise my new business to a membership of over 10,000! Once again, a BIG thank you.
Andrew Potter, Director, MNAEA (Overseas)

I heard you speak at the Forward Ladies Positive Women day. Excellent advice and tips that I went away and followed as near to the letter as I could. I wrote a press release which got taken up by the Yorkshire Evening Post with a two-page spread. Then yesterday I had a call from Radio Leeds and was interviewed this morning about empty nest syndrome. Great results, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge so generously.

I would just like to let you know the impact attending your course has had on my business. The course itself was excellent and it gave me the confidence (and inside knowledge) of how the world of local media works, who to contact and when to get maximum expose for free. My news story was a success and was printed in 3 local papers – one paper giving us ¾ of a page with colour photographs, you couldn’t miss it if you tried. The staff were very happy to see themselves and the business in the local papers and existing patients thought it was great. The real eye opener was that I did not expect a 42% increase in new patient activity from the free media exposure. Just goes to show, if the right people deliver the right training it really does work!!

I recently went on your Getting Free Publicity in the media course. Using your excellent teaching I have managed to get two articles in the Sheffield Star! I would never have got such articles in the Star had I not used your teachings. Adverts of that size would have cost a fortune and the only "cost" to me was two hours of my time to attend the course. From my perspective those two hours were priceless. However it did not stop there. Using this I have developed a good working relationship with Will Payne of the Sunday Mirror and other newspapers. Thanks again.

I attended your course ‘Free publicity in the media’ in Wakefield last year, and I them emailed you our press release regarding a Fashion show we were holding celebrating 20 years in business and asking real brides to re wear their wedding gowns, which you gave me a few pointers on. I just wanted to say thank you for all the help and advice that you gave me. We have since received free editorial in J life Magazine, Yorkshire life and Beyond Leeds.
