Dinosaurs back from the dead

"Capital B Media came to see us at Themesparx to take photographs, capture footage and interview us about the project as a whole. They were highly professional and thorough in the questions they asked and took great care in getting some brilliant shots for the piece. We are thrilled with the press release produced for us and have seen an excellent response with increased enquiries and interest in the animatronic T-Rex."

  • the brief

Specialist Yorkshire manufacturing company Themesparx called on Capital B Media to secure them as much positive PR as possible about a challenging job they had just completed – the creation of a 10ft animatronic dinosaur. The brief was to be quick, as the dinosaur was leaving the company for a Southampton theme park later that same day. The objective was to get Themesparx noticed by as many people as possible across Yorkshire through the dinosaur story; to promote them to potential customers as specialists in their field.

  • the action

Themesparx originally requested a press release and a photo but we recommended doing some video footage as well. We visited Themesparx and in the time that we were there, we were able to get all the information about the dinosaur, take some great photos, and shoot some footage of the dinosaur roaming around Themesparx's factory floor. We then edited this down into our own video package, sent some raw clips to the media and ripped audio off the video to send to radio stations. This went hand in hand with the press release and a photo that was sent to local media.

  • the outcome

The video was a huge success and BBC Look North described it as a 'monster project' and featured it on their morning, afternoon and evening programme, reaching approximately over 1,000,000 people watching at home. The story was extensively covered in the Yorkshire Post reaching approximately 50,000 people and was also featured on various business websites. The audio that was sent was also used on local radio stations including Dearne FM. For every £1 that Themesparx spent with us, they reached 1,900 people.
