Barnsley accountants look to the future

7 May 2014

A Barnsley accountancy firm that can trace its roots back more than a century is looking to the future with a new man at the helm.

Robert Watson has taken over as managing director at Gibson Booth Limited and is planning a new look for the company with a new logo and website.

The rebranding is being backed by business support programme Enterprising Barnsley, which is run by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council to help companies grow.

Robert takes over from Gary Dickinson, who had been managing director for 12 years, and is staying on as a director.

Gibson Booth, which has offices on Victoria Road in the town centre, has 28 staff and a turnover which has been growing year on year. The company name goes back over a century to the Gibson family of Barnsley.

Robert, who has been at Gibson Booth Limited since 1998, said: “Gary Dickinson has done a great job for the last 12 years. He is a valuable part of the business and I know that his experience will be of great help to me in the future.

“As accountants we offer all the services you would expect, with an emphasis on personal service, and we have been doing that well for decades. But I realise we need to keep up to date, not just with the services we offer, but also with the way we look.”

As well as being given an image make-over, Enterprising Barnsley business coaches have also helped Gibson Booth Limited with HR and tender writing support.

“Their support has been brilliant at getting us to focus on the future and where we need to be headed. It is a fantastic programme for local businesses,” said Robert.

Gibson Booth Limited offers services including accounts, audit, personal and corporate tax planning; together with specialisms including VAT, payroll, capital taxes, research and development, employee incentivisation, corporate finance and wealth management.

The company also offers business advice and has recently taken on two chartered tax advisors.
