People encouraged to make a Will this February in support of Barnsley Hospice

People in Barnsley are being encouraged to make a Will during February as part of the Barnsley Hospice Make a Will Month campaign.
Make a Will Month is an annual initiative by the hospice which takes place every February to help support patient care.
Several local solicitors will be offering their time for free by waiving their fees during the month in exchange for a donation.
Julie Watts, a healthcare assistant in the Inpatient Unit at Barnsley Hospice, made her Will during Make a Will Month last year. She said: “Making a Will is something you don’t really think about when everything is ok, so this campaign really prompted me to get on with it.
“Not only is it a great way to get your affairs in order, but you’ll also be supporting the hospice which relies on the generosity of local people. I would urge others thinking of making a Will to sign up to the Barnsley Hospice Make a Will Month during February. It's a simple process which makes a real difference to you and the hospice too.”
Donations from Make a Will Month go directly to supporting patients and their families and are taken at the time of making a Will. Suggested minimum donations are £90 for a single Will and £175 for a pair of mirror Wills.
The participating Barnsley solicitors are: Best Solicitors; Bury & Walkers LLP; Elmhirst Parker LLP; Ison Harrison Solicitors; Newman & Bond Solicitors; Peace Legal Limited; Pennine Law Solicitors, and Wosskow Brown LLP.
People taking part in Make a Will Month are encouraged to donate as much as they can afford to Barnsley Hospice, which has to raise over £2m a year, in addition to £1.6m funding from the NHS.

Barnsley Hospice provides specialist care for anyone in the borough with a progressive life-limiting illness, including cancer, motor neurone disease and heart disease. As well as ten beds for inpatient care, it also provides day therapy services, counselling and complementary therapies to many of its patients and families.
