Record numbers planning Christmas at Magna
18 August 2014
It may still be August, but a record number of people are booking up for Christmas parties at Magna Science Adventure Centre.
More than 4,200 people have already booked to attend one of the Eat, Bump and Groove parties that will run on seven evenings in December – almost as many as the total for last year. The party nights feature a three-course meal, open bar, dodgems and casino tables.
The venue has catered for about 50,000 festive party-goers over the last nine years, with 4,600 attending last year. But this year organisers expect to top 7,000.
“It might still be the summer holidays, but people in South Yorkshire obviously like to plan ahead.” said Lisa Woolhouse, of Magna.
“We get a lot of businesses coming to the Eat Bump Groove events as their works’ Christmas night out. And it is proving more and more popular each year as word gets out about what a unique night out it is.
“There’s all the usual stuff, a meal and a disco – the eat and groove, but the dodgems, the bump, make it a bit different. And this year we have added the casino tables, which seem to be a real pull as we are well up on bookings for previous years.”
The Eat, Bump and Groove party nights will run on 5, 6, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20 December. Tickets are £59.95 per person all-inclusive.
Magna, which is housed in the former Templeborough steel works near junction 34 of the M1, can also host private Christmas parties, and has venue space that can be hired to cater for between 30 and 3,000 people.
The Templeborough steelworks were built during World War One and shut in 1993. They remained derelict until being transformed in 2001.
As well as being a corporate venue, Magna is also an award-winning visitor attraction with more than 100 hands-on exhibits designed to explore the four elements of air, water, earth and fire, and it hosts regular school trips.
