Sheffield financial planner shortlisted for prestigious award
7 September 2017
Sheffield financial planner Jillian Thomas has been shortlisted for a prestigious business award.
Jillian, who is managing director of Future Life Wealth Management at Renishaw, near Sheffield, has been nominated in the leadership category for the Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards. The leadership accolade recognises an individual who has displayed courage, tenacity and wisdom in a tough role.
BBC Breakfast and Watchdog broadcaster Steph McGovern will present the award ceremony, which will take place at the New Dock Hall in Leeds on 2 November.
Jillian said: “It’s a wonderful feeling to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award, and I’m really looking forward to going up against fellow leaders for the accolade. Running a successful business is not easy, and you are faced with tough decisions and challenges on a daily basis. In these moments, I’ve always tried to remain positive and show leadership skills to guide my team through sticky situations.”
Since Future Life Wealth Management was set up by Jill in 2009, the company has won numerous awards and for the past five years has been listed in the New Model Advisor Top 100, which recognises financial planners for their qualifications, income and commitment.
Jillian, who was also shortlisted in the Barclays Yorkshire Women in Business Awards 2017, is the immediate past president of Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry; only the second woman to have held the post in the chamber’s 160 year history. She is a regular expert guest on BBC Radio Sheffield and has been on BBC 5Live, Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and Newsnight. Jill has also shared the stage with Steph McGovern on BBC Breakfast.
Jill said: “Not only was I delighted to be shortlisted for the award, but I was also thrilled to hear that Steph will be presenting the ceremony. When I joined Steph live on BBC Breakfast a couple of years ago, she was great fun and made me feel at ease.
“I’m sure Steph hosting the Yorkshire Post awards will contribute to what will be a great event.”
Future Life Wealth Management offers a bespoke financial planning service to generators of wealth, typically business owners, executives and professionals, and also to receivers of wealth, such as inheritors, divorcees, widows and retirees.
