Soak up the fun at Magna this summer
11 July 2016
Children visiting Magna can enjoy a sizzling start to the summer holidays, with a range of activities on offer.
Youngsters can choose to create a splash at Aqua-tek, one of the UK’s largest outdoor water play areas, or keep dry inside with 100 hands-on exhibits - all of which are designed to be both fun and educational for all ages.
Visitors can also take part in the Big Bubbles workshop and be wowed by The Big Melt show, a pyrotechnic and audio display that recreates the history and working of a furnace which once melted steel.
Throughout the holidays, families can take a guided tour with an ex-steel worker, who will talk to them about the history and heritage of the old Templeborough steelworks, as well as demonstrating old forging techniques.
If the rain stays away, Magna’s outdoor Sci-Tek playground is the ideal place for children to let off steam and learn through play. The area features trampoline nets, spinning bowls, tilted roundabouts, twisted slides, rockets and castles.
Stuart Ballard, education manager at Magna, said: “We’re proud to offer such a wide range of activities both inside and outside the venue, which can be enjoyed by children of all ages– whatever weather the summer decides to throw at us!
“Young visitors can run around our adventure playground, get drenched in the water park or be captivated by one of our many exhibits. And what really makes this venue special is that no matter what they’re doing, children are constantly learning and developing their knowledge of science.”
Magna houses more than 100 interactive exhibits designed to explore the four elements of air, water, earth, and fire.
Its summer programme will take place from Monday 25th July to Sunday 4th September, with tickets available to buy on arrival, or online at www.visitmagna.co.uk/book-online
Magna is housed in the former Templeborough steelworks near junction 34 of the M1, and also hosts regular school visits and business and social events.
